Rauch is a city centre located in Buenos Aires, Argentina, which already enjoys 15000 inhabitants approximately.
Electric power people use is provided by a private firm (EDEA - Empresa Distribuidora de Energía Atlántica), and also supplies street lighting which is paid by the city council. The electric power consumption within the district is relatively high, either of the street lighting or offices. In an energy efficiency plan, including education and other efforts in reducing consumption, the problem has been focused on the lighting by means of LED sodium luminaries. Due to this, most of the local consumption comes from different departments, which is actually, the key problem to solve by implementing this project.
On the other hand, the district should be an example for neighbours in the measure enforcement to reduce the electricity use, as well as in the application of clean and renewable technologies.
A decrease in the electric power consumption provided by the net, reducing the GEI emissions from Rauch district.
This district is considered as a pioneer in all accions about the environmental care, being a clear example in the rollout of Unidad de Reciclado de residuos sólidos urbanos (URRA!), 1998, which was sample for many other districts.
At the moment, it is a priority to install the issue of renewable energies in the environmental agenda; so the district is the one who must take a step forward and become an example to let communities adopt this kind of technology for everyday life. The environmental education of youth is linked to experiences they might go through, as far as, they are new and successful in order to take and bring them in their daily life every environmental purpose offered.
Results will be revealed by lowering the electricity consumption of either municipals or individuals, mainly if the city council may cooperate in the acquisition of proper devices for neighbours in vulnerable conditions.
Photovoltaic panels will be acquired to solve the problem. They should be settled in municipal buildings: such as Palacio Municipal, Casa de Cultura, Unidad de reciclado, Isla de servicios (tourism sites), Centro Integrador comunitario; and the installation of this devices will be accompanied by a loud campaign in favour of renewable energies. A solar water heater will also be set up for showers of all URRA employers. Making these devices visible, the interest in the issue will be greater; everyone will be informed and, as a consequence, all prejudices around this kind of technology will cease. By attracting youth to this awareness, phone and battery chargers will be supplied with solar energy in points where meetings take place commonly. In this sense, the attention will be draw to the issue in this sector of population; since it does not pay for the suitable electricity consumption, therefore, it is not attracted by a decrease in consumption though.
